The Q&A

The session started at half 2 (ish…convention time!) with the Q&A. It was completely different to any one I’d been to before. The room was quite small, and there was no stage, and no microphones. And I was in the third row! It was an incredibly surreal feeling when RDA & AT walked into the room! That was when it hit me, ‘OMG, they’re actually here!!’

RDA was kinda following AT’s lead with the Q&A, this was the only second one they had done, and I think he was a bit nervous. Cameras were flashing like it was going out of fashion, and RDA said no one had to get up out of their seat , and waked up and down the room so we could get better pics (didn’t work in my case cos I’m a crap photographer!) The questions had all been picked beforehand, and though they’re not in order, I think I have most of them here.
They were asked what’s RDAs pick up line, he said ‘I had my own tv show.’ He doesn’t have one because women can tell they’re lines. AT was asked what line would work on her – she said ‘Hi, I’m Richard Dean Anderson’
_Anubis asked RDA if he has ever thought about setting up a curling team and if so could he be on it? RDA laughed and asked if everyone knew what curling was (yes!) and said his grandfather used to play it, but it was really just an excuse for them to go drinking! Sure he would like to set a team up! But no, _Anubis couldn’t be on it because he has his whole life ahead of him, ‘don’t waste it on curling!’

RDA said ‘What?’ or ‘what was the question’ quite a few times…I swear I heard someone say ‘That’s so Jack!’

They both held their heads in their hands after one girl started her question by saying she’s been watching them since she was 10 years old, lol. She asked them what were the things that really influenced the as they were growing up. AT said her grandmother, who died at 103 (I think that’s the age she said.) who had a crush on RDA! He said Ricky Gervais and a couple of other recent things, AT said no, when he was growing up, and RDA replied ‘I’m still growing up!’ Then seriously he said his father was a great influence on him. One lady asked what advice they would give to helping kids in disadvantaged areas get away from violence, particularly that copied from tv. Both said that was a question they didn’t think they could properly answer. That kids need to understand the difference between what’s shown on tv, and the reality, but they didn’t know how that should be done.

They were asked if their memories were wiped, and they could only keep a select few, what would they be? AT said her daughter, and when she met her husband. RDA also said his daughter, she’s his world.
One of the first questions was if they could have any subject downloaded into their brain, what would it be? AT said English literature, RDA said she was sucking up (then she said the complete works of Shakespeare ) After asking the questioner what kind of subjects she meant, he said all the languages of the world.
They were asked if they ever find themselves answering to Sam & Jack after having played them for so long. AT said yes – her father wanted to call her Samantha, and has always called her Sam – and she has brothers called Richard, Christopher & Michael! RDA said no – nothing confuses him, followed by one of his many ‘what? What was the question?’ LOL
Oh, and they were asked who their favourite guest stars are. AT said Carmen Argenziano – he’s been like a father to her since they met. RDA said Robert Picardo, that’s he really great to work with.

The Meet and Greet

Afternoon tea meet & greet – I spent the hour or so (more?) chatting with raknor, Terrah, Verona and the others at our table (((((hugs to all))))) Everyone was given their own little charm (I left mine behind! L )
The tea and cakes (yes, there was cake!) were delicious
It’s very distracting when you’re trying to have a conversation and you can hear Richard Dean Anderson’s voice somewhere behind you…
When they were at our table, someone asked what exactly is the story with Stargate at the moment, and AT said they haven’t been renewed for an 11th season, but they are definitely doing the 2 films, and that she has been asked to do a few episodes of SGA (though she didn’t say how many) Even though I knew all that already, it was good to hear it confirmed by the lady herself! She also said that she and DH have a lot of fun playing Sam & McKay off each other.
They were both just lovely! RDA kept fiddling with one of the little charms on the table. But they only had a few minutes with us before they had to move on to the next table.
After that there was the photo session I couldn’t believe how nervous I was going into that – and it didn’t help that people were coming out of the room looking shell shocked! But once we were in there, they were just so nice and made us feel more at ease!
